It Is Only Human To Be Lonely (외로우니까 사람이다) is a song written to a contemporary poem, To A Daffodil (수선화에게), by Jeong Ho-seung (정호승). It takes an observant look at a fictitious youth who waits for a call that never comes, at birds on a branch that keep twittering, a daffodil by the water, a hill that casts its shadow on the village, and so on. The narrator sees the same reason behind all these, namely that nothing, and no one, can exist alone complete and content in and of themselves, that everyone invariably experience a thirst to connect with a fellow being. The narrator reiterates the theme that we should acknowledge this unquenchable hunger for someone to be with, which unfortunately will neither come to be completely satisfied nor go away on its own as long as we live. The song intones that it is fate, in a way, that comes with existence itself.

It is also a message to the people, especially the youth, of our time. The new generations are the ones that go through the greatest uncertainties and challenges. Youth unemployment rate in Korea is much higher than their predecessors' who came just a couple of decades before them when Korea saw a long stretch of expanding economy. Many industries are maturing and demands for new crop of inexperienced workers are stagnant. So young people have a hard going even in the job market, on top of all the burdening things attendant to a changing time. This song has the understanding and embracing tone for all the lonely ones out there, who might feel like they are lost at sea facing the formidable gales of new challenges.
